About me
Meet Cristina
Hi, I’m Cristina Yacoub — a systems engineer who fell in love with education the moment I stepped into a real classroom.
For five years, I worked as a substitute teacher in public schools. Every day I saw kids struggling to stay focused, teachers doing their best with whatever they had, and parents at home wondering how to help. Those moments stayed with me.
“I wanted every child to have something to reach for — something that made learning feel safe, fun, and possible.”
That’s why I created YC-Learn. A place where teachers and families can find ready-to-use resources — coloring activities, reading materials, emotional tools — designed with care for the little ones who need it most: kids in grades K through 3.
A Typical Classroom Faces Over 2,000 Disruptions a Year
Transitions, behavioral moments, emotional dysregulation — each one costs instruction time. Together, they steal up to 20 full days of learning and push teachers toward burnout. But the hardest part isn’t the disruption itself. It’s having to decide instantly, without support, over and over again.
